If your Mac system restore leaves you in the V9.0 realm, it can be patched as follows: So, you are half way there, with only V9.1, V9.2, V9.2.1, and V9.2.2 to consider.

You can probably rule out V9.0, V9.02, V9.03, and V9.04 for stability issues and the lack of enhancements. However, I can tell you from personal experience that it is best to do some research after you decide upon your favorite application(s).

In general, many users have favored the very last revision, Mac OS 9.2.2 as the most stable and preferred version. Unfortunately, there has always been a heated debate on which Mac OS 9 version to install. Below you will find some general background info: Trial #4: when I create a subfolder in PHOTO, separate from PHOTO LIBRARY, the RAW file is also transformed in JPEG, RAW disappears. Trial#3: when importing the picture (RAW files alone) to PHOTO LIBRARY, it stays in RAW but is not accessible from LIGHTROOM in that folder? When I send the file (RAW) to the FINDER document, it is transformed automatically to a JPEG file. Trial #2: I imported a photo from SD card with RAW format only. RAW disappeared and is not traceable anywhere. When I send the files (RAW + JPEG) to the FINDER document, only JPEG file appears. Before I created a folder in FINDER to organise them, the "J" shows up after import as if there were 2 files, but the option given from someone of "USE RAW AS ORIGINAL" is grey and not usable. Trial #1: I imported a photo from SD card with RAW + JPEG format. The only thing that might have change is that I downloaded the ADOBE LIGHTROOM 5 on a trial version, but doubt that could come from here. The strange thing is that when I first got the laptop, I was able to keep both files. I have tried different ways of importing my pictures but nothing seems to work. When importing JPEG+RAW (NEF Nikon) at the same time and from the same photo, the RAW format disappear.

Has anybody found a solution to this problem? Just switched to Apple buying my 1st MBP, and this seems a total disaster, lost all my work (RAW files) and am in India for a few weeks to take pictures and don-t know how to save them: I think just rebranding iPhotos to photos would have been a great idea rather than reinventing a perfectly working wheel. I have submitted a report and I hope someone will address this. I hope someone from Apple will attend to this bug. This problem makes an infinity video import loop that drains storage on the Mac. The videos are not shown in Photos but when I trace the location from Finder, they are saved in 2 different location with different folder structures. For interest sake, I clicked import and the Photos app imported all the videos and stored them in the Photos library. Upon reconnecting my camera to my Mac, I had 31 videos shown as New Videos in Photos. I use a Sony Alpha camera and I imported 20 videos from my camera in the morning and shot 11 more videos in the afternoon. This never used to happen with the iPhotos app.

The program cannot distinguish previously imported videos from new videos when an SD card or camera is connected to the Mac. It looks like there is a bug with the Photos app/program. I just want to be able to use a new program that comes with the Yosemite update. Lastly I hope moderators will not delete my post, I have checked, there is no violation of rules here. On another note, I have a feeling that Photos is a stripped down version that was compromised to work across platforms.

Some good folks here helped me with manuals for Pages & Numbers. If there is someone who has a comprehensive manual that details all the features for Photos, I would appreciate it.

  • I prefer using programs designed for Mac by Apple to manage my files, this way it makes the handling easier.
  • I have faced the same problem with programs like Pages and Numbers, the nouns pages and numbers are generic and always bring things nothing to do with Mac OS.
  • Using the name Photos to search for solutions is a big problem since this word is generic and results in unwanted results not specific to Mac OS.
  • Does this mean that this feature has been killed in Photos?
  • Searching for help on Mac OS help section does not bring any RAW file literature to refer to.
  • It never used to be like this in iPhotos.
  • in Photos I have to import videos separately from my camera.
  • When I import photo files that have a RAW twin, I can see the JPEGs marked 'J' in Photos but the RAWs are not displayed.
  • I never used to have this problem with iPhoto.
  • My RAW files are not appearing in Photos program on both my iMac and MBP.
